After about two months ago they sensationally defeated champions Lukoil Academic (unbeaten up to that moment), now Levski couldn't repeat that dream performance. Tonight in Pravets "The Students" took revenge, winning convincingly 93-64. The two teams made some changes in their rosters in the past months and it seems that has had more of a negative effect on Levski.
The game's start was very even and the score was tied at 15-15 in the 7th minute. In the next minutes of the first quarter the hosts played better and took a 9-point advantage. In the second quarter the players of Titi Papazov did try to come closer and cut the deficit to six. Unfortunately, that was all they could do in the game. Lukoil Academic once again managed to pull away and took a 17-point lead before Marcus Hall scored his only three-pointer to finish the first half.
The third quarter started very strong for the hosts who quickly built an even bigger advantage winning the first quarter after the break by a 12 point margin and practically killing off the game. In the last ten minutes the teams played just to set the final score and didn't put too much effort into defence.
Veselin Veselinov had his best game for his new team so far and it happened to be against the team he played for the last two seasons. He finished with 21 points and 8 rebounds missing only one three-point shot (3/4). Vladimir Mijovic also had a nice game with his 20 points, including five three-pointers and 3 rebounds.
For Levski the only player who played near his best was captain Stefan "Toro" Georgiev. The national team power forward finished with 26 points and 7 rebounds but never had the support of his teammates. The other yeam ledader Marcus Hall scored 13 but had a bad shooting night, going just 5 for 18 from the floor.
Bulgarian Levski won their second game in row in Eurohold Balkan League and they kept very good chances to get among the best placed teams in group B at the end ...
